NDPE VISITS MAX HOSPITAL TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR FILIPINO CHILDREN UNDERGOING LIVER TRANSPLANTATION

New Delhi, India – Charge d’ Affaires John Boitte C. Santos recently visited Max Super Specialty Hospital (Max Hospital) to show his support for Filipino children who have undergone and will undergo liver transplantation. The visit was part of the Philippine Embassy’s efforts to assist Filipinos in India who are in need and distressed, as well as raise awareness about the importance of liver donation and transplantation.

During the visit, CDA Santos met with the families of Filipino children who have undergone liver transplants and expressed his admiration for their courage and resilience. He also met with the hospital's medical team and discussed the importance of forging collaboration with the hospital to provide more assistance to Filipino children needing medical attention. He also conveyed his gratitude to Max Hospital and the doctors attending to the medical needs of the Filipino children.

"I am deeply grateful to Max Hospital and their doctors for the immense help they are extending to the liver transplant patients from the Philippines," said CDA Santos. "Their selfless dedication to saving the lives of these children is highly commendable."

CDA Santos also toured the hospital's facilities and learned about the transplantation process from the medical team. He appreciated the hospital's efforts in providing world-class care to the Filipino children and their families.

"We are grateful for the CDA's visit and his support for our young Filipino patients and their families," said Dr. Vikram Kumar, one of the doctors in charge of liver transplantation. "It is heartening to see officials like him take the time to show support to these children."

The visit was also an opportunity for CDA Santos to meet with representatives from the hospital to discuss ways to increase the awareness of countries like the Philippines on liver transplantation. CDA Santos pledged his continued support for these efforts and noted that the Philippine Embassy would do more to bring these to the attention of relevant authorities in the Philippines.

CDA Santos also enthusiastically shared about a Filipino doctor currently doing his fellowship training on liver transplant and HPB surgery at Max Hospital. He expressed his hopes for more Filipino doctors to specialize in liver transplants so those children back in the Philippines who need such medical procedures will no longer need to travel abroad.

Liver specialists from Max Hospital hope that CDA Santos’ visit will help raise awareness about the importance of liver donation and transplantation and impel stakeholders in the Philippines to support the needs of Filipino liver transplant patients.

The Embassy provided the families of liver transplant patients with welfare assistance, including groceries and care supplies.

CDA Santos was accompanied during the hospital visit by Vice Consul Mark Anthony G. Articulo, ATN Officer Renie P. Tomas, Alternate ATN Officer Estrelita M. Cuevas, and Consular and Office Assistant Frankey A. Kishore. END.

NDPE SETS UP AN EXHIBIT ON PHILIPPINE BUILT HERITAGE THROUGH POSTAGE STAMPS

NDPE sets up an Exhibit on Philippine Built Heritage Through Postage Stamps

On 26 May to 12 June 2023, the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi staged an exhibit featuring Philippine built heritage. The exhibit, titled "Appreciating Philippine Built Heritage Through Postage Stamps", showcased the rich cultural heritage and history of the Philippines through a unique lens – postage stamps.

The exhibit, which was the Embassy’s culmination activity for the National Heritage Month celebration, aimed to educate and inspire visitors about the importance of preserving cultural heritage, and how postage stamps can be a valuable tool in doing so.

Visitors of the exhibit had the opportunity to view stamps that celebrate Philippine architecture, such as old Spanish-built churches, bridges, and lighthouses, as well as Art Deco buildings erected during the American colonial period in the Philippines.

"Stamps are not just pieces of paper with pictures on them, they are a reflection of a country’s history and culture," said one of the visitors, Ms. Junghwa Kim, a Senior Economic Researcher from the Korean Embassy in New Delhi.

Apart from stamps, the exhibit also provided visitors with glimpses of the colorful weaving traditions of the Philippines through the display of different native fabrics, such as T’nalak of South Cotabato, Inabel of the Ilocos Region, and Pis Siyabit of Sulu. END.
