COP Gaur receiving Ambassador-Designate Ignacio at the Ministry of External Affairs
NEW DELHI, 17 January – Recently arrived Philippine Ambassador-Designate to India Josel F. Ignacio paid a courtesy call today on the Honorable Anshuman Gaur, Chief of Protocol (COP) of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and presented a copy of his Letter of Credence.
During the call, Ambassador-Designate Ignacio and COP Gaur engaged in a cordial tête-à-tête. They welcomed the vibrant state of overall ties between the Philippines and India, while acknowledging the need for both sides to deliver on the promise of relations.
The Ambassador-Designate conveyed advance felicitations on India’s celebration of its 75th Republic Day later in the month, and outlined his priorities. COP Gaur extended assurances of the MEA and the Protocol Division’s readiness to lend its support to the undertakings of the Philippine Embassy.
In diplomatic practice, the call and presentation of the copy of credentials is a prerequisite to the full accreditation of Ambassadors by the receiving state, culminating in the formal presentation of credentials to the Head of State. END
