When you get your passport back with no visa and received a slip indicating “Your credentials have not established you as a qualified applicant for the visa category you have applied for.”, this means that your application for a temporary visitor’s visa has been declined. The reason/s may be any of the following:

  • You did not submit completely the required basic and additional requirements.
  • Even if you submitted all the required basic and additional requirements, the following were not proven: 

    - Strong economic or family ties to the home country 
    - Sufficient financial means to support yourself while staying in the Philippines 
    - Clear intention of honoring the status of the temporary visitor's visa 

  • You should not be applying for a temporary visitor's visa but a visa of another category such as a student visa, a pre-arranged employment visa or a Special Non-immigrant Visa. It is important to know that the following purposes do not fall under the temporary visitor category: to study at a university, seminary, academy, college or school, approved for such foreign students by the Philippine Bureau of Immigration and Deportation; to assume employment or practice a vocation or profession in the Philippines or; to join a family member residing in the Philippines In these cases, the school/ potential employer/  family member should apply for an appropriate visa through the Philippine Bureau of Immigration and Deportation in the Philippines.
  • Suspicion of misrepresentation
  • Fraudulent supporting documents were submitted.
  • There was a discrepancy between the data on the application form and other related supporting documents.
  • Pending documents requested were not submitted within the 5 day waiting period.
