THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN NEW DELHI HOSTS A MEETING WITH OFFICIALS OF PHILIPPINE AIRLINES, CEBU PACIFIC AIR, CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY, AND OPERATORS OF DELHI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FOR A POSSIBLE DIRECT FLIGHT FROM THE PHILIPPINES TO INDIA

26 August 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi hosted a meeting between the officials of the Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific Air, together with the officials from the Philippine’s Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC), and Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA). GMCAC is a consortium between Megawide Corporation and India’s GMR Group, presently operating and developing Mactan Cebu International Airport.

The meeting discussed the potential partnerships on air connectivity between the Philippines and India, particularly on establishing direct flights between the two countries to increase air mobility, thereby promoting tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and cultural linkages. The meeting also explored the possibility of using technology and digital platforms to streamline the existing visa regime and simplify mechanisms and processes.

Among the participants of the meeting were Mr. Julius Neri, Jr., MCIAA General Manager and CEO, Ms. Clarabel Anne Lacsina, CAB Acting Board Secretary, Mr. Harry Inoferio, PAL Senior Assistant Vice-President for PH Sales, Mr. Michael Ivan Shau, Cebu Pacific Air Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Andrew Acquaah Harrison, GMCAC Chief Executive Advisor, and other concerned representatives.

Third Secretary Mark Anthony Dizon and PTIC Commercial Counsellor Eugenio D. Elevado, Jr. attended the meeting. [END]
