The Embassy held a diplomatic reception at the Hyatt Regency New Delhi on 7 June 2022 to commemorate the 124th year of the proclamation of Philippine Independence. With the theme “Kalayaan 2022: Pagsulong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas”, the event was well-attended by 200 guests, which includes Minister of State for External Affairs and Education of India, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, who was the Chief Guest, Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov, Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, Mexican Ambassador Federico Salas Lotfe, Chargé D’Affaires Patricia A. Lacina of the Embassy of the United States of America, Minister for Political Affairs Taguchi Seiichiro of the Embassy of Japan, the business sector, and the Filipino Community.
Also in attendance are ASEAN Heads of Missions from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Vietnam, ASEAN diplomats, defense attachés, and officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India.
This is the first Philippine Independence Day Diplomatic Reception conducted by Post in two years. Due to previous stringent COVID-19 restrictions in New Delhi, the commemoration of the Philippine Independence Day in 2020 and 2021 was only participated by Post’s officials, personnel, and limited guests.
During the opening remarks, Philippine Ambassador Ramon S. Bagatsing, Jr. highlighted the significant progress in the Philippines – India relations in terms of political cooperation, trade relations, and people-to-people exchanges. END
