The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi, in coordination with the Indian Government, facilitated the repatriation of 135 stranded Filipinos in India aboard four (4) separate flights in September 2020.
80 stranded Filipino seafarers took an Air Asia chartered flight to Manila on 8 September 2020 from Ahmedabad in northwestern India.
Meanwhile, 55 stranded OFs in India were able to fly home aboard three (3) Air India flights from New Delhi on 15, 25 and 29 September 2020. The 25 September 2020 also carried two (2) NDPE personnel who ended their tour of duty. The flights are part of Vande Bharat Phase 6, bringing the total to twelve (12) Air India flights that have flown stranded OFs from India to the Philippines since May 2020.
With these latest flights, the Embassy has facilitated the repatriation of 843 OFs who were stranded in India and Nepal in sixteen (16) different flights and one sea voyage (through a Philippine Navy ship) since May 2020.
