In the month of June 2020, the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi was able to repatriate an additional seventy-seven (77) stranded Filipino nationals in India. Seventeen (17) stranded Filipinos were able to board the Air India flight AI1308 from Chennaion 16 June 2020, while sixty (60) stranded Filipinos took the Air India flight AI1310 from Delhi on 23 June 2020.
The latest batch of repatriated Filipinos comprised both stranded tourists, OFWs (including seafarers) and returning nationals. Since May 2020, the Embassy has helped in the repatriation of 235 Filipino nationals who were stranded in India due to the covid-19 pandemic.
Theserepatriations were made possible through six (6) flights of the Indian Government’s Vande Bharat Mission Phases 1-3 which started in May 2020 to fetch stranded Indians in the Philippines.
