The Embassy advises all Filipinos presently in India of the following recent actions undertaken by the Indian Government in addressing the concerns of stranded foreigners due to the lockdown in many places in the country:

1. Hotels (as Support Services) for Stranded Filipino Tourists in India

The Indian Ministry of Tourism has advised the State Governments (SGs)/Union Territories (UTs) administrations to treat hotels and similar establishments as Support Services for tourists who are not able to reach their home countries due to travel restrictions, subject to the adherence of the precautions of the concerned State/Union Territory and in compliance with the advisories of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

OYOHotels has offered to open their establishments to take in such guests, subject to the permission of the local administration under the support services category for helping stranded foreign tourists.

2. Filipino Nationals who are unable to exit India during the validity of their visa

“Regular visa, e-visa, or stay stipulation of all foreign nationals, which have expired or would be expiring during the period from 13 March 2020 (midnight) to 15 April 2020 (midnight) would be extended until midnight of 15 April 2020 on “Gratis” basis after making online application by the foreigner to the concerned Foreign Regional Registration Offices (FRROs)/Foreign Registration Offices (FRO). Exit of such foreign nationals, if so requested by them during said period, will be granted without levy of overstay penalty.”
