04 September 2019 – Philippine Ambassador to India, H.E. Ramon A . Bagatsing, Jr., undertook a working visit to Mumbai on 28-31 August 2019 to pursue the economic diplomacy initiatives of the Embassy, specifically to extend support to Philippine companies participating in the outbound business matching event and to meet with executives of Mumbai-based Indian companies operating in the Philippines, including Hinduja Global Solutions, Bharat Serums and Vaccines Ltd., Capgemini Technology Service India Limited, Bajaj Auto Limited and Tata Motors Limited to discuss their concerns in doing business in the Philippines and encourage them to expand or diversify their businesses in the Philippines. He sought the companies’ support in promoting the Philippines as an trade and investment destination.

The Ambassador also met separately with officials of the Hinduja Group and Aditya Birla group, two of the biggest business conglomerates in India to discuss several business proposals and update them on important developments in Philippines-India relations. Ambassador Bagatsing also attended the Department of Trade and Industry’s “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan” Program session with the members of the Filipino community in Mumbai, which gave him an opportunity to introduce himself to and personally meet the Filipinos in Mumbai and know their concerns. The Ambassador, as well as DTI officials also met executives/producer of Bollywood films to promote Philippines as a location site for filming Bollywood movies.

Being his first visit to Mumbai, the Ambassador also called on the Philippine Honorary Consul General in Mumbai, Mrs. Rajashree Birla, to discuss developments on and ways to further strengthen Philippines-India relations.END
