12 April 2019- The Philippines together with the ASEAN-member countries and India attended the 21st ASEAN-India Senior Officials’ Meeting held at The Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi on 11 to 12 April 2019. The meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Vijay Thakur Singh, Secretary East of the Ministry of External Affairs of India and H.E. Busaya Mathelin, Permanent Secretary and SOM Leader, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
The Philippine delegation was comprised of Department of Foreign Affairs-Office of ASEAN Affairs Assistant Secretary and SOM Leader H.E. Junever M. Mahilum-West, External Relations Director Reginald S. Bernabe, and External Relations Division Principal Assistant Leo Marco C. Vidal.
Assistant Secretary Mahilum-West delivered the Philippine intervention on 12 April 2019 wherein she reiterated the call for sustained cooperation and engagement through the various ASEAN-led mechanisms (including sharing of best practices and information, law enforcement, and capacity-building) to effectively address traditional, non-traditional, and new security challenges that ASEAN and India face in the region.
