01 December 2018-Philippine Vice President Maria Leonor G. Robredo delivered her statement during the Asia Pacific Summit held in Kathmandu, Nepal, where she highlighted the growing inequality found in many of today’s society. VP Robredo stressed that as the size of the marginalized sector grows so too is the frustration with democratic institutions. She urged leaders to ensure that economic growth is inclusive of all sectors of society.

The Asia Pacific Summit was also attended by other leaders namely, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Samdech Techo Hun Sen, State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi, Head of the Independent State of Samoa Tuimalealiifano Vaaleto’a Sualauvu II and President of the Republic of Nauru Baron Divavesi Waqa.
