03 December 2018 - The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi, represented by DCM Arvin de Leon and Mr. Edwin Juan Batallones, participated in the Global Agriculture and Food Summit 2018 held in Ranchi, Jharkhand on 29-30 November 2018. The Philippines, together with China, Israel, Mongolia and Tunisia were the partner countries of the Summit.

The Embassy set up a booth that was provided by the Philippine Tourism Marketing Office in India, while the distributed information materials were provided by the Philippine Department of Agriculture through the DFA’s Economic Diplomacy Unit.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Ragubhar Das and Indian Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Radha Mohan Singh, graced the opening ceremonies on 29 November 2018.

On 30 November 2018, DCM de Leon made a presentation on the state of Philippine agriculture during the country partner session, followed by questions on possible collaboration between the Philippines and Jharkhand in the agricultural front.

This is the first time that the Philippines has participated in any major event in Jharkhand, one of the major agricultural states of India. It was estimate that around 10,000 people participated in all the Summit-related activities.END
