19 November 2018 – Philippine Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza accompanied by Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Arvin R. de Leon and Philippine Honorary Consul General in Kathmandu Mr. Suraj Vaidya met with Nepalese Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MEST) Secretary Mr. Khaga Raj Baral Khaga Raj Baraj at Singha Durbar, Kathmandu on 14 November 2018.

Secretary Baraj was part of the delegation from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) who had their study visit at the Philippine Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Central Office on 14 February 2018 to learn on the structures and functions of the local government units in the Philippines, and to share the Nepalese experience on federalism.

Ambassador Daza noted the presence of Nepalese students in the Philippines mostly in the field of medicine and aviation training.

Secretary Baraj expressed his gratitude to the Philippines for hosting Nepalese students and mentioned that Nepal is looking forward for more scholarships for Nepalese students in railways, transport, irrigation and mining engineering as well as in agricultural sciences; exchange of trainors and experts on technological education; capacity-building of Nepalese technical and vocational trainors; and setting up of a polytechnic university sponsored by the Philippine Government.END
