06 November 2018 - The Philippines participated for the first time in “Sambhav”, an annual event organized by the Association for Learning Performing Arts and Normative Action (ALPANA) and supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, India to showcase the talents of differently abled individuals. The gathering held in New Delhi from 2-5 November 2018 included seminars, yoga classes, arts and craft workshops for participants across India and the world.
The Philippines was represented by 19 year old autistic pianist Macky Palomares. He was accompanied by his mother Mrs. Josephine Palomares and his mentor Mr. Amos Manlangit.
For the Closing Session on 4 November, Macky played three Filipino pieces (“Leron Leron Sinta”, “Pamulinawen” and “Sitsiritsit”) as well “What a Wonderful World” to an appreciative audience, comprising government officials, ambassadors/ diplomatic representatives as well as representatives from the business sector and civil society.
