07 August 2018– The ASEAN Quiz 2018 was held at Arya Auditorium, Des Raj Campus, East of Kailash (Near ISKCON Temple), South Delhi, New Delhi on 07 August 2018.
On the occasion of the 51st anniversary of ASEAN, the Royal Thai Embassy spearheaded the ASEAN Quiz 2018 in cooperation with the other ASEAN Missions to raise awareness and greater understanding among students about ASEAN member countries, their peoples and their interaction with India over the last 25 years. The Philippine Embassy was represented by Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Arvin R. de Leon and Consular Assistant Romeo T. Gle.
The questions covered various themes about the ten (10) ASEAN member countries – their peoples, history and culture, arts and literature, achievements in sports, science and technology, entertainment, education, famous personalities and events; land, geography, natural features and treasures, wildlife and nature, including travel attractions and tourist destinations, cuisine as well as natural resources; and international relations and current affairs, including ties and links with India — cultural, ethnic, political — over the years.
The ASEAN Quiz 2018 was open to all school students of Grades 9-12 and all undergraduate students of recognized colleges, institutions, and universities in Delhi and surrounding areas. India. A team comprised 3 members from the same institution (school/college /department / faculty).
There were two (2) levels of the contest. Level 1 was a Written Preliminary Round, which were attempted by all registered teams. The top 6 (six) teams were selected on the basis of their scores for the Final Stage Round. Each team comprised three (3) members only. The Quiz Bee winner was the team with the highest score at the end of the Final Stage Round.
The Champion team received Rs. 51,000 and runners-up team received Rs.26,000.00. All stage finalists received certificates of merit, while all participants received certificates of participation.
