24 March 2018 – The Philippine Embassy participated in the ASEAN Sports Day sponsored by the Embassy of Vietnam, as the current chair of the ASEAN New Delhi Committee (ANDC) in New Delhi which was held at the latter’s Embassy grounds in New Delhi on 24 March 2018.
The sports tournament commenced with the ASEAN Flag Hoisting and singing of the official anthem, “The ASEAN WAY” which was participated by Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza along with the other ASEAN Heads of Mission/Representatives, officers, staff and family members.
The sports competition included golf putting, badminton doubles, table tennis doubles, and tug of war.
In the golf putting, Mr. Hilario Villamin placed second. In the badminton doubles (female category), Ms. Romina T. Palacpac and Ms. Anivie M. Salic were awarded third place while in the badminton doubles (men category) Mr. Acmali L.Salic and Mr. Edwin Juan Batallones represented the Philippines.
In the tug of war competition, the Philippines placed second. The Philippine team was composed of Mr. Edwin Juan Batallones, Mr. Acmali L. Salic, Mr. Hilario Villamin, Mr. Rogemar Cinco, and M/Sgt. Allan P. Arciaga as the coach.
The winners received trophies during the awarding ceremony and culminated with a sumptuous traditional Vietnamese lunch.
The ASEAN Sports Day is one of the activities of the Embassy of Vietnam in New Delhi aimed at strengthening camaraderie and unity among the 10 ASEAN Missions accredited in New Delhi.
