President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a bilateral meeting at Hyderabad House, New Delhi on 24 January 2018, where both agreed to deepen cooperation in trade and investment, health, defense, people-to-people exchanges, among others.

A pre-signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Philippines and India was presented to media after the bilateral meeting. The MoU aims to facilitate direct investments by providing practical investment information to enterprises, assistance to visiting investors, and support in the promotion of investments between the two parties.
