01 September 2017 – The Philippine Embassy was represented by Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Arvin R. de Leon who attended the ASEAN Quiz 2017 held at Arya Auditorium, Des Raj Campus, East of Kailash (Near ISKCON Temple), South Delhi, New Delhi on 01 September 2017.
The ASEAN Quiz 2017 was spearheaded by the Royal Thai Embassy as the current ASEAN New Delhi Committee (ANDC) Chair in cooperation with the other ASEAN Missions to raise awareness of the ASEAN member states among achievements among students leading to greater understanding of the ASEAN, their peoples and their interaction with India over the last 25 years.
The ASEAN Quiz 2017 was open to all students of Grades 9 to 12 as well as undergraduate students from colleges across Delhi-NCR. Participating schools nominated at least two teams of three students each. The quiz had a preliminary round, followed by an on-the-stage final round. The contestants were asked questions on ASEAN, its history, achievements, and member states along with their cultures; financial, technological and industrial developments; sporting and individual achievements; as well as the realms of art, leisure and entertainment in the member states, individually and as a community.
The Champion team received Rs. 50,000, the first runner-up team received Rs. 25,000.00 and Rs. 10,000 to the second runner-up team. All stage finalists received certificates of merit, while all participants received certificates of participation.
The ASEAN Quiz 2017 was a significant activity to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN and the 25th anniversary of ASEAN–India Dialogue Partnership.
