14 June 2017- In commemoration of the 119th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi hosted a diplomatic reception at Bikaner House, one of the princely residences in New Delhi, on 12 June 2017, with India’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare H.E. Anupriya Patel as the Chief Guest.

The event’s program includes the singing of the Philippine and Indian national anthems, brief remarks from Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza and a photo opportunity with Minister Patel, the ASEAN Heads of Missions and Representatives, Ministry of External Affairs’ Joint Secretary (South) Jaideep Mazumdar who is also the Indian Ambassador-designate to the Philippines.This was followed by the ceremonial cake-cutting of Ambassador Daza and Chief Guest Anupriya Patel.

In recognition of Filipinos love for music, Ms. Jasmine Saxena, a Filipina-Indian singer, entertained the crowd by rendering some contemporary songs. Tourism visuals were also displayed in strategic areas and a video on “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.”

The reception also showcased White Champa’s garments and accessories highlighting the excellent fusion of Filipino and Indian innovative designs and fabrics. White Champa is an Indian fashion brand which seeks to build a bridge between the unique talents of Filipino and Indian artisans. The White Champa owner and designer, Ms. Anjana Das, also graced the event.

The guests were served Filipino cuisines such as ukoy and pinais na kabute. Many were also delighted to savor different ice cream flavours with a traditional Filipino ice cream cart.Upon leaving, guests were given a “pamaypay” as souvenir together with Oishi snacks manufactured by Liwayway Foods India Pvt. Ltd. in Bangalore and distributed throughout Southern India. END
