6 May 2017 - The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi together with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kathmandu, the Institute for Strategic and Socio-Economic Research and the Pavilion Group organized the Ambassadors’ Symposium 2017 at the Andaz Delhi Hotel, Aero City on 5-6 May 2017. Non-resident Heads of Missions accredited to Nepal attended the symposium. The Philippines was represented by Ambassador Daza who concurrently serves as the Philippine Ambassador to Nepal.
Nepal has bilateral relations with 143 countries, 82 of which, or about 57% have non-resident embassies mostly based in New Delhi.
The Ambassadors’ Symposium 2017 aims to highlight the positive political and economic developments in Nepal and to provide non-resident Ambassadors with the latest information on the economic and investment climate as well as the priority sectors for investments. Nepal is seeking investment, technology and knowledge transfer in various sectors including hydropower, infrastructure, tourism, education and health. Nepal aims to graduate to the status of developing country by 2022 and middle income country by 2030.
Among the speakers in the Symposium are: Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister of Foreign Affairs , Nepal; Hon.VK Singh, Minister of State of External Affairs, India; H.E. Deep K. Upadhyaya, Ambassador of Nepal to India and Hon. Shanker Das Bairagi, Secretary, MFA Nepal.
