19 December 2016- The Philippines, as represented by Atty. James Mark Terry Ridon, Chairperson, Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP), Office of the President, Philippine Ambassador to India H.E. Ma. Teresita C. Daza, Economic Assistant Ms. Meri Jayne Cinco and Protocol Officer Mr. Acmali Salic, participated in the 6th Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Housing and Urban Development (APMCHUD), held from 14 to 16 December 2016 in New Delhi, India.

APMCHUD has 68 Member States including the Philippines. Its mission is to promote Sustainable Development of Human Settlements in Asia Pacific Region.

Chairperson Ridon delivered the Philippine statement, highlighting the ongoing projects of the Philippine government of the under President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration, such as: the provision of houses to poor Filipinos, the implementation of the presidential directive of “no demolition of urban poor communities without acceptable relocation”, the delivery of dislocation assistance to affected families of the Manila waterways clearing projects.

The conference ended with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration and the Implementation Plan and the election of the 6th APMCHUD Bureau Members. END
