28 November 2016 –  The Philippines participated in the International Conference on Innovations, Trade and Development, organized by the Center for Development Economics and Innovation Studies (CDEIS), Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab, India on 25-26 November 2016.

The conference attended by 150 delegates aimed at taking  a closer look at innovation, trade and development, their nexus, as pillars of the economy, amidst globalization.

The Philippine Ambassador to India was guest of honor of the Conference, where she delivered brief remarks during the inaugural session and made reference to the ten-point socio-economic agenda of President Duterte and the Philippine Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2017.

Prof. Leonardo Lanzona, Jr. of the Ateneo de Manila University, Department of Economics served as Chair of the Technical Session on the Comparative Analysis of the BRICS Countries; as  panelist in the Panel Discussion on Innovation, Trade and Development in BRICS Countries and as the Valedictory Speaker for the Closing Session of the Conference.
