The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi organized back-to-back Gender and Development (GAD) seminars for the women members of the Filipino community and the spouses and dependents of the Embassy personnel on Thursday, 17 December 2015 and Friday, 18 December 2015.
The first day of the seminar focused on the Magna Carta of Women where Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza delivered the opening remarks which highlighted the important role of women, in particular the Philippine experience where women were instrumental in fighting for democracy and freedom. She stressed the need to be aware and informed on different laws supporting the rights of women.
Vice Consul Maria Rosanna Josue also prepared a power point presentation and discussed the important sections under the “Magna Carta of Women” and some gender equality issues. The attendees actively participated and shared their experiences.
The first day of the seminar ended with a game and distribution of certificates.
On 18 December 2015, the Embassy organized another GAD activity for the Embassy personnel and their families. They visited the Memorial Museum of Indira Gandhi, the first and only female Prime Minister of India.
