3 August 2015 – The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in New Delhi participated in the 103rd ASEAN-New Delhi Committee (ANDC) meeting on 3 August 2015 hosted by the Embassy of Laos.

Ambassador Ma. Teresita C. Daza highlighted the Philippines’ recent milestone activities in India such as the invitation from the Indian Government for DFA Undersecretary for Policy Evan P. Garcia to be the speaker for the Eminent Persons’ Lecture series at the Institute for Defense and Security Analyses (IDSA) on 18 July 2015 in New Delhi. Undersecretary Garcia drew attention to the Philippines’ principled position on the rule of law and discussed the latest developments in the South China Sea as well as the country’s arbitration case against China.

Ambassador Daza also invited the ASEAN Ambassadors to attend the two-day lecture organized by the Embassy featuring Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio on 6-7 August 2015 to be held at the Indian Council on World Affairs (ICWA) and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Justice Carpio’s presentation is entitled “The South China Sea Dispute” and has been presented in several countries in cooperation with various Philippine Embassies.

The 117th ANDC meeting discussed upcoming activities to commemorate ASEAN Day. It also marked the turn-over of chairmanship from Laos to Malaysia.

The ANDC is the ASEAN Committee in Third Countries in India that promotes relations as well as ensures a better understanding of ASEAN in India. ANDC is comprised of ASEAN Heads of Missions accredited to India.
