02 July 2019– Mrs. Rajashree Birla, Consul General a.h. together with Mr. Retnaswamy Swaminathan, Consul, a.h. of the Philippine Consulate General in Mumbai paid a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador Ramon S. Bagatsing, Jr. on 02 July 2019.

After exchanging introductions and pleasantries, Ambassador Bagatsing and Consul General a.h Birla discussed ways on strengthening coordination between their two offices and bettering the Philippine-India relations in the future.

PCG Mumbai has assisted the Philippine Embassy in providing consular and ATN services to distressed Filipinos and has been very supportive of the Philippine Embassy’s advocacies and activities such as the consular outreach missions (latest was in 2018); Education and Tourism Roadshow in 2016, Pundaquit Virtuosi's performance tour in 2017, and the Philippine National Day in 2018.

Mrs. Birla has been the Consul General a.h. of PCG Mumbai since 1995. She is the Director on the Board of all the major Aditya Birla Group of Companies such as the Aditya Birla Nuvo, UltraTech Cement Ltd., Grasim, and Hindalco and also the Director of the Aditya Group''s International Companies in Thailand, Egypt, Indonesia and Philippines.

She is the Chairperson of the Aditya Birla Center for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, which oversees the corporate social responsibility programs and projects of the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) across thirty companies.

Mrs. Birla is a renowned Indian philanthropist who devoted herself to working in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and charity sectors.

In 2011, the Government of India honored her with the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, for her services to society.  In 2018, Consul General, a.h. Birla donated Rs. 1.8 Million for the construction of ten (10) housing units for the relief and rehabilitation efforts in the Marawi City.

Mrs. Birla received from former President Joseph "Erap" Ejercito Estrada the posthumous award of “Order of Sikatuna with the rank of Maginoo” on behalf of her deceased husband Consul General a.h. of PCG Mumbai Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla at the Malacañan Palace on 02 March 2000.

In presenting the award, former President Estrada cited Birla for his exceptionally meritorious service in the field of international relations as Consul General ad honorem of the Philippines in Mumbai for 21 years since July 1974
